Gregor Zootzky, *16.08.1971, was born and raised in Germany. After completing an education as master carpenter, he attended a technical secondary school for design. During the early 1990s he moved to Cologne where he was active in several professional branches while applying for admission to several art schools. In 1996 he met Mary Bauermeister while participating in a theater group where she attended the performance of ‘The Kleinbürgerhochzeit’ by Berthold Brecht. Mary invited the group to perform the piece in her garden.

During 1997 Zootzky took up a longer journey to southern Africa (Namibia,South-Africa, Lesotho) and attended an Artcollege in Windhoek, Namibia where he concentrated on manual printing techniques. To the end of his visit he participated in a group exhibition which was organized by the National Art Gallery of Namibia on the occasion of the 10. anniversary of the death of John Ndevasia Muafangejo (1943-1987). Back in Germany he lived in Berlin before starting his study of fine art at the Akademie voor Beeldende Kunsten in Maastricht in the Netherlands. He spent one Semester in 2001 as exchange student at the art academy Vysoká škola umělecko-průmyslová (VŠUP), in Prague. Zootzky completed his studies of fine art at the academy in Maastricht in 2002 with the Dutch Diploma of Fine Arts directly following up with advanced training in traditional cartoons at the ifs in Cologne. Zootzky lives and works in Cologne.

„Psst pp Piano – Hommage à Mary Bauermeister“ is his first Film (35 mm, Cinemascope) in which he was author, producer, director, and artistic director.

The Film was produced within a time-frame of 9 months.
